The Musiciens d'Europe are in residence in Val d'Argent (Alsace) between October 10 and November 23, 2024. They are developing a rich multidisciplinary program around the theme of water with various local players. A precious resource and a central element to the valley's history, water also irrigates the cultural offerings of this residence: concerts, workshops or conferences.
The related educational programme includes an original percussion workshop entitled Percussions Rousseau by our conductor Jean-Marie Curti. Over the course of several sessions, a small percussion orchestra will be formed whose participants will work with instruments taken from nature (stones, shells, wood, etc.) on a score written just for them. The programme is open to everyone with no prior musical training required.
The highlight of the residence will be two symphony concerts in Lièpvre and Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines. The Musicians play Bedřich Smetana and Maurice Ravel, and create the symphonic poem L'eau du Val d'Argent by Jean-Marie Curti under his direction.
